Visiting Policy
As the owner of Royal Maine Coon Cattery, our policy includes charging a $150 visiting fee, and we believe it's important to provide transparency about the reasons for implementing this policy:
Visiting Fee Policy at Royal Maine Coon Cattery:
Reasons for Charging a Visiting Fee:
- Time and Resources: Operating a Maine Coon cattery involves significant time and effort in caring for our beloved cats and kittens. When potential buyers or visitors wish to view our cats in person, it requires additional time to provide tours, information, and answer questions.
- Serious Inquiries: The visiting fee helps filter out casual inquiries or visitors who may not be genuinely interested in adopting a Maine Coon kitten. It ensures that those who visit are more likely to be committed to the breed and the adoption process.
- Reducing Disturbances: Frequent visits can be disruptive to the cats and kittens, potentially causing stress. Charging a fee helps limit the number of visits and ensures that they are conducted by individuals who are genuinely interested in adopting.
- Covering Expenses: The visiting fee helps cover some of the costs associated with welcoming visitors, such as maintaining a clean and safe environment, providing educational materials about the Maine Coon breed, and potentially offering refreshments during the visit.
- Reserving Time: As the owner, I have a busy schedule, and charging a fee helps reserve specific time slots for serious visitors. This ensures that I can allocate my time effectively to provide a personalized and informative experience.
- Protecting Cats' Health: It’s essential to protect the health of our cats and kittens. Charging a fee ensures that visitors adhere to sanitary practices, such as handwashing and wearing clean clothing, to prevent the potential spread of diseases.
- If You Have Allergies: If you have allergies and would like to see how you react to being around Maine Coons, please note that you will most likely experience a reaction. Our cats and kittens live with us, so they are part of our household environment, which may trigger allergies for sensitive individuals.
Family-Friendly Cattery:
Our cattery is specifically designed to be kid-friendly, and we love having children visit our cattery. You are welcome to bring your small children along when visiting us. We believe in creating a fun and safe environment for all family members to enjoy the experience of meeting our Maine Coons. We want children to feel comfortable and engaged during the visit, as we know how important it is for them to connect with their future pet!
Visiting Policy at Royal Maine Coon Cattery:
- Appointment-Only Visits: Visits to the cattery are by appointment only. Please Contact Us to schedule your visit in advance. We want to ensure that we can give you the proper attention and care while maintaining the safety of all our cats.
- Health and Safety Precautions: For the safety of our kittens, please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before handling any cats. Visitors may be required to wear disposable shoe covers or protective clothing to reduce the chance of introducing contaminants.
- Limit on Number of Visitors: We may limit the number of visitors at any given time to ensure a calm and stress-free environment for our cats.
- By Appointment for Specific Kittens: If you are interested in meeting a particular kitten, you must **schedule an appointment**. We will make time to introduce you to the kitten(s) of your interest.
- No Unannounced Visits: Unannounced visits are not permitted. Please respect our cattery’s need for privacy and routine. We want to provide the best care for our kittens, which can be disrupted by unexpected visitors.
- Visiting Restrictions for Health Reasons: No visits will be allowed if you are currently ill or have been exposed to contagious diseases, such as colds, flu, or COVID-19, to protect the kittens and other cats in our care.
- Virtual Visits Available: If you are unable to visit in person, we can arrange virtual visits through video calls. This allows you to see the kittens and interact with them from home.
- Scheduling a Pickup Appointment: Once your kitten is ready to go home, we will arrange a pickup appointment. If you're unable to pick up your kitten in person, we can arrange shipping (with two-week notice and final payment completed, including delivery charges).
- Welcome Drinks and Candies: During your visit, we offer welcome drinks and candies to make your experience more enjoyable and comfortable.
- Time with Kittens: You will have 1 hour to spend with the kittens during your visit. We encourage you to enjoy the time and connect with the kittens, getting to know their personalities.
Justifications for Charging a Visiting Fee:
- Commitment: The visiting fee demonstrates your commitment to adopting a Maine Coon kitten and helps ensure that our cats receive the best care and attention.
- Personalized Experience: The fee allows us to provide a personalized and informative experience during your visit, including insights into the Maine Coon breed's unique characteristics and care requirements.
- Responsible Visitations: The fee helps maintain a balance between offering the opportunity for visits while safeguarding the well-being of our cats and kittens.
- Investment in Quality: The fee contributes to maintaining the high quality of Royal Maine Coon Cattery and ensures you have a positive and memorable experience.
We are committed to transparency in our policies and want to ensure that potential visitors are fully informed about our visiting fee policy. This helps you make an informed decision about whether to proceed with a visit to Royal Maine Coon Cattery.
Reservation
To acquire a Maine Coon kitten from Royal Maine Coon Cattery, here’s a step-by-step guide based on the cattery’s policies:
1. Filling Out the Application
- The first step is to fill out an Application to adopt a specific kitten or to join the Waiting List. This application secures your interest and begins the reservation process with Royal Maine Coon Cattery.
2. Joining the Waiting List or Reserving a Kitten
- To join the waiting list, a $500 deposit is required. This deposit reserves your place in line for a kitten with your preferred color and gender.
- If you want to reserve a specific kitten, a $500 PET Deposit (non-refundable) is required. For kittens purchased with breeding rights, the deposit is $1,000.
Note: Once you select a kitten, the $500 deposit must be paid, which will apply toward the final purchase price. This deposit secures the kitten for you and ensures it won’t be offered to others. Accepted payment methods include Cash, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, and PayPal (accepted as donations).
3. Staying Updated with Your Kitten
As soon as a deposit is placed for a kitten, you need to download WhatsApp to receive regular updates. Every two weeks, the cattery will send you videos and pictures of your kitten through WhatsApp, allowing you to stay connected with your new pet’s growth and progress.
4. Special Deposit and Payment Requirements
If the kitten is at the main cattery, a $500 deposit is required; if the kitten is located at a partner’s location, a 50% deposit is necessary.
Health preparations: Kittens are generally ready to go to their new homes at 14 weeks but may stay longer if they require additional care or if spay/neuter appointments are delayed.
5. Pickup or Delivery Arrangements
- Kittens from the cattery or a partner’s location must be picked up from the main cattery unless delivery to a local airport or another state is arranged.
- If delivery is needed, the total payment, including delivery fees, must be completed two weeks prior to the scheduled delivery date.
6. Final Payment and Pet Sales Contract
- The remaining balance is due on the kitten’s release date. With the final payment, both parties will sign a Pet Sales Contract to finalize the purchase.
- If you need to pick up the kitten later than planned, notify the breeder before placing a deposit. The cattery will hold the kitten for up to 2 weeks beyond the release date. After that, a daily boarding fee of $45 will apply. If the kitten isn’t picked up within the specified timeframe without prior notice, it will be resold without any refund.
7. In Case of Special Circumstances
- The PET Deposit is non-refundable, though it may be transferred to another litter or kitten if needed.
- If a reserved kitten unfortunately passes away, the deposit can be applied toward another kitten, as long as the cattery is still operating.
- If you’re on the waiting list but do not find a suitable kitten within 12 months, you may receive a $250 refund (half of the deposit).
8. Completing the Process
- Once payment is made, sign the Deposit Agreement and email it along with a photo ID or driver’s license to the cattery’s email.
